Started in Chicago, IL, Asian Student Achievement, (ASA) is a growing organization that specializes in professional development for students and professionals. Our mission is to get Asian and Asian-Americans through the pipeline to leadership positions and increase diversity in the workforce.

Why we need you:

  • You are creative, self-motivated, and passionate about web design. You pay close attention to detail and sometimes say out loud “this is so not user-friendly!”. Utilize these wonderful skill sets and help Asian Student Achievement design and maintain the company website through Weebly. 

What you can learn from us:

  • How to work in a non-traditional work environment
  • How to thrive in a small team setting and learn what it takes to run your own business
  • How to manage day-to-day operations in a startup
  • How to refine your own soft skills through coaching from us (of course!)


  • Implement and maintain UI patterns to ensure a positive user-experience website
  • Improve aesthetic design (colors, layout, graphics, style) of website to attract potential clients and maintain consistency of ASA branding  
  • Remain professional in all public, social media, and written communications
  • Partake in administrative tasks for Asian Student Achievement (ASA)
  • Use the ASA Google Drive in an organized manner
  • Respond to emails, Slack, and other communication within 24 hours of notification
  • Proactiveness in promoting ASA services such as: coaching, speaking engagements, and job board services through external outreach
  • Engage in monthly team meetings and biweekly check-ins


  • Engage in monthly team meetings and biweekly check-ins 
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and other visual design tools
  • Good understanding of content management systems
  • Experience in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Proactive initiative for constant improvement of the design and development process
  • Knowledge and understanding of search engine optimization 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Adaptable to new environments and willing to learn new techniques 
  • Detail-oriented and organized with great work ethic
  • Must have valid work status (US Citizens and Permanent Residents can disregard this)
    • You may use your OPT (optional practical training) hours
    • We will not be able to sponsor you for any other type of visa, e.g. H-1B
    • We will not be able to pay for any costs associated with work status and eligibility
    • You may first need approval from your school and/or the US Government before interning with us. Please take care of this before interviewing with us.
  • Must be a current college student or above
  • Commit to at least a 6 months internship with the possibility of extension or promotion
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 hours a week to assigned tasks, meetings, and ASA events (we will reimburse you for any required travel)

Non-compete clause: While working for ASA, you are not allowed to work as a volunteer, part-time, or full-time employee with any competing organization or company that offers our business plan.


  • Experience working with relational database management systems and SQL
  • Experience with server side scripting languages such as JSP, PHP, or ASP
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Google drive, documents, sheets, excel, calendar)
  • Networking skills and command of conversational skills for interaction with clients and teammates. 
  • Having any prior internship experience(s) or similar part-time job(s) in web design, UI/UX
